MOBAK Foundation is an NGO dedicated to empowering young people, particularly those leaving state care, to achieve secure, stable, and successful futures. Through comprehensive, relationship-based support, we offer safe environments, structured programs, educational guidance, practical life-skills training, mentorship, psychosocial assistance, and pathways to independence.
Founded through the vision of Dr. Merle Baker, whose distinguished career in education and youth development spans more than four decades across Trinidad and Tobago, the United Kingdom, and Jamaica, MOBAK is grounded in a legacy of service, excellence, and community empowerment.
The organization is governed by a strong Board of Directors, elected annually and supported by sub-committees that ensure accountability, fiduciary oversight, and sound governance. MOBAK is further strengthened by an experienced management team, inclusive of leaders in child protection, youth development, and social services. Under the leadership of Executive Director Mr. Mobafa Baker, the Foundation brings deep expertise in youth transitions, homelessness, systems change, and organizational leadership.
Our work is guided by a clear strategic plan that directs our priorities, strengthens accountability, and ensures our programmes remain focused on measurable outcomes for young people. For funders, donors, and partners, MOBAK represents a trusted, mission-driven organization with the leadership, structure, and commitment needed to create lasting impact.
